Hugh Mcelhenny (Hugh Edward McElhenny) was born on December 31, 1928 in Los Angeles, California. After going to high school at George Washington (Los Angeles, CA), Mcelhenny attended Compton JC and the University of Washington. Mcelhenny made his professional debut in the NFL in 1952 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played for the San Francisco 49ers, Minnesota Vikings, Detroit Lions and New York Giants over the course of his 13 year career.
Most people believe that 1952 was Hugh Mcelhenny's best year, as he ran for 684 yards, ran in 6 TDs and ran back a punt for a touchdown.
