Hugh Mccullough (Hugh W. McCullough) was born on May 18, 1916 in Anadarko, Oklahoma. After going to high school at Central (Oklahoma City, OK), Mccullough attended the University of Oklahoma. Mccullough made his professional debut in the NFL in 1939 with the Pittsburgh Pirates. He played for the Chicago Cardinals, Boston Yanks, Philadelphia/Pittsburgh and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1940 was Hugh Mccullough's best year, as he picked off 5 passes and had a 40.5 yard punt average.
