Born on July 17, 1847 in Ireland, Hugh Daily (Hugh Ignatius Daily) played for the Buffalo Bisons, Cleveland Spiders, Washington Nationals, Chicago Browns, St. Louis Maroons and Washington Senators over the course of his 6 year career. Daily broke into the bigs on May 1, 1882 with the Buffalo Bisons, and put up a 2.99 ERA in 255.2 innings pitched in 1882, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Hugh Daily's best season was 1884, when he posted a 2.43 ERA, won 28 games and struck out 483 batters.
