Hugh Blacklock (Hugh M. Blacklock) was born on January 1, 1893 in East Grand Rapids, Michigan. After going to high school at Central (Grand Rapids, MI), Blacklock attended Michigan State University. Blacklock made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Decatur Staleys. He played in the APFA for 2 years, playing for the Chicago Staleys and Decatur Staleys over the course of his 2 year APFA career.Blacklock also played in the NFL for 5 years, playing for the Chicago Bears and Brooklyn Lions over the course of his 5 year NFL career.
