Born on February 18, 1897 in Millsboro, Delaware, Huck Betts (Walter McKinley Betts) played for the Philadelphia Phillies and Boston Braves over the course of his 10 year career. Betts broke into the bigs on April 26, 1920 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.57 ERA in 88.1 innings pitched in 1920, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Huck Betts's best season was 1934, when he posted a 4.06 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 69 batters.
