Hub Shoemake (Charles Hubbard Shoemake) was born on September 29, 1899 in Oskaloosa, Iowa. After going to high school at Oskaloosa (IA), Shoemake attended Lake Forest College and the University of Illinois. Shoemake made his professional debut in the APFA in 1920 with the Decatur Staleys. He played for the Decatur Staleys for his entire 1 year career.
