[edit] The Course

[edit] Hole 1

"Royal", Par 4, 454 yards

The right side of the fairway gives a view of the green as it angles away to the left between bunkers.

[edit] Hole 2

"Stand", Par 4, 436 yards

There are bunkers on both sides of the fairway and the green slopes away on both sides.

[edit] Hole 3

"Course", Par 4, 429 yards

A sharp dog-leg to the right around the out-of-bounds practice ground that runs all the way to the green.

[edit] Hole 4

"Road", Par 4, 372 yards

New bunkers guard the left side of the fairway. The green falls away from front to back.

[edit] Hole 5

"Long", Par 5, 529 yards

A big left-swinging dog-leg between gorse on the left and bunkers right. Two-tier green adds to difficulties.

[edit] Hole 6

"New", Par 3, 202 yards

Prevailing wind is against and from the right with the green well bunkered at the front.

[edit] Hole 7

"Telegraph", Par 4, 453 yards

A tight driving hole with a deep bunker guarding the front left of the green.

[edit] Hole 8

"Briars," Par 4, 423 yards

The fairway is hidden behind and out-of-bounds corner, then swings gently to the left.

[edit] Hole 9

"Dowie, Par 3, 198 yards

The narrow green is set beyond bunkers left and right and also surrounded by humps and hollows.

[edit] Hole 10

"Far", Par 5, 534 yards

A lone bunker threatens at the front right of the green and the ground falls away on the other side.

[edit] Hole 11

"Punch Bowl", Par 4, 393 yards

The first of four holes running along the shore. The green angles away sharply to the right.

[edit] Hole 12

"Dee", Par 4, 448 yards

Sloping fairway throws the ball off to the right as the hole turns left to a raised green.

[edit] Hole 13

"Alps", Par 3, 198 yards

Tough short hole with the green set well back into sandhills that block the left side.

[edit] Hole 14

"Hilbre", Par 4, 456 yards

Sharp right-to-left dog-leg with the corner well bunkered. Green drops away into a hollow on the right.

[edit] Hole 15

"Rushes", Par 3, 161 yards

A simple-looking hole from an elevated tee but recovery shots are tricky for anyone who misses the green.

[edit] Hole 16

"Field", Par 5, 554 yards

Bunkers on the left and a deep grassy hollow on the right protect the green.

[edit] Hole 17

"Lake", Par 4, 459 yards

Bunkers left and right demand accuracy from the tee before a second shot to a two-tier green.

[edit] Hole 18

"Dun", Par 5, 560 yards

The out-of-bounds practice ground on the right threatens both the drive and the second shot.
