That would be... today.
As his Angels take on the New York Yankees, here's Kendrick's afternoon.
1st At Bat
In the 1st, With three runs in already, one out, and Casey Kotchman on first, Kendrick strikes out on three pitches -- called, swinging, swinging. Chien-Ming Wang begins to calm down.
In the Field
With two outs and Robinson Cano, Doug Mientkiewicz grounds to second. Kendrick picks it up and throws it away. Doug Mqwertyuiop is safe; Cano goes to third. (No one scores, though, as Kelvim Escobar fans Melky Cabrera.
2nd At Bat
In the 3rd, Kotchman leads off with a double.
Kendrick fouls off the first pitch, takes a ball, and then fouls off two more, before Wang finally prevails, getting him swinging at pitch 5 (out of the strike zone). Two K's.
3rd At Bat
Frustration? We're in the 5th. Kotchman racks up his third hit, a two-out single. Kendrick swings and misses at a pitch inside. Strike one. He bunts (there are two outs, remember) for a base hit -- and hits it foul. Strike two. He takes a ball, only to swing and miss at pitch four, which was located near the first pitch. Three AB, Three Ks.
4th At Bat
Ah, the 8th inning. Kotchman doesn't get a hit this time -- he walks. With one out and a runner at first, Kendrick comes to bat.
There are few things worse than a strikeout.
Like, a double play.
First pitch, inning ends, 6-4-3.
As I write this, the game is in the top of the 9th. It's unlikely that Kendrick will have another plate appearance but he could make a game-losing error.
We'll see.
