Howdy Caton (James Howard Caton) was born on July 16, 1896 in Zanesville, Ohio. He made his Major League debut on September 17, 1917 for the Pittsburgh Pirates. In 1918, his rookie year, he hit .234 with 0 home runs and 17 RBI. Caton played for the Pittsburgh Pirates for his entire 4 year career.
