Howard Stevens (Howard Melvin Stevens) was born on February 9, 1950 in Harrisonburg, Virginia. After going to high school at Harrisonburg (VA), Stevens attended Randolph-Macon College and the University of Louisville. Stevens made his professional debut in the NFL in 1973 with the New Orleans Saints. He played for the Baltimore Colts and New Orleans Saints over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that 1974 was Howard Stevens's best year, as he had 749 kick return yards.
