Howard Hartley (Howard Paul Hartley) was born on September 26, 1924 in Ravenswood, West Virginia. After going to high school at Ravenswood (VA), Hartley attended Duke University. Hartley made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Washington Redskins over the course of his 5 year career.
Most people believe that 1951 was Howard Hartley's best year, as he picked off 10 passes.
