How the Yankees can regain a dynasty...

(Roc)It is no surprise how much I despise anything in pinstripes. No surprise. The Yankees are obviously in upheaval and trying to become the best again. The problem is, it will never happen as long as Derek Jeter and A-Rod share an infield. A-rod simply needs to be a star. He is the problem. No doubt about it. If they Yankees want to get back on top, here is an action plan. First you need a couple studs with proven track records in the rotation - Hughes and Kennedy might be great, but "might" is not the Yankee definition. There is no uncertainty in Yankee land - never has been, never will be.

So you need to bring about a stud, and Dontrelle Willis of the Marlins has been on Brian Cashmans radar for years, Problem is - he won't be moved unless they unload allstar 3B Miguel Cabrera - that's when you unload Hughes and the other Cabrera, Melky - to the Marlins. This brings over an allstar Pitcher with proven post season experience, and one of the best hitters in the game who only needs proper direction (and they both like Girardi, a lot) Problem is - now you have 2 third basemen. 2 great third baseman, and still no Johan Santana. The Twins wanted some real talent, where would NY get some more to trade now that Hughes and Melky are gone?

Trade Derek Jeter. Move Arod back to short, keep Miguel Cabrera at third. Arod is simply a better shortstop, a better player - and if Jeter is not there and it turns the Yankees into Arods Yankees - he will post mind boggling numbers - and you have a front three rotation of Wang, Willis... and that Santana guy. Jim Caple wrote a similar article, but this gives it some legs for the logistics. Yes, fans will cry - and they won't believe what just happened, but winning the first 15 straight in 08 might help their sorrows. It may never happen, but it would change the Yankees as we know them as... into what we knew them as.

(Barron) I can't believe that you just took the Captain's off of the Yankees!!!??!! Roc has apparently started drinking heavily. First of all, there is NO WAY that the Yankees will ever trade or get rid of one of the greatest clutch hitters of all time. When the playoffs are on and the Yanks are down 1 with the bases loaded with 2 outs who is the most feared player in the lineup? Is it A-Rod? NO...it's Jeter...and I know that Roc agrees with me on this one. He is the leader, the Captain, and the face of this franchise. A-Rod can put up mind-blowing numbers next to Jeter (2 MVP's). Cabrera is a head case and is also Manny Ramirez's brother (not proven, but come on). Cabrera is not needed in Yankee land. The reason they have not produced in the post-season has been their pitching. There are 3 players that can fix this.

1. Johann Santana: A proven stud and obvious number 1 guy. I would love to see him in pinstripes (or anyplace not named Boston). I agree that to get this guy you give up Melkey (who I really like), Kennedy (prefered) or Hughes, and a prospect or

2. I have no problem with this, but there are other options. 2. Dontrelle Willis: I have always loved this guy and although he hasn't had the best couple of years he is still young and has an arm that doesn't wear out. To pull this one off with Cabrera also in the mix, bring on a 3rd team (Mets, Angels, Cubs). The Yanks may be able to get Willis while only giving up Kennedy or Hughes and a prospect. They also may be able to dump some garbage named Farnsworth. Unfortunately I did hear Girardi say that he still thinks that Farnsworth could be the 8th inning guy (God help us).

3. Dan Haren: This guy is going to be big if he lands on a good team. He is the right age (27), has had solid years (3 years pitching 200 innings and getting 14 wins), and hasn't had the opportunity to play with a good team. He could be dealt in a 2 or 3 team deal and would look great on the mound in Yankee Stadium, and I don't think we would have to give up much (Kennedy and a prospect or 2). Roc...unfortunately for you, the Yankees are not in panic mode and hopefully Cashman has Hank's good ear and will be making some solid moves. TRADE JETER??? YOU WISH!!!!!

The Yankees starting pitching is better off already than last season with Kei Igawa out of the rotation after starting last season as the fifth starter.

Been gone a couple days, so just back in town and catching up and was glorifying myself in the great news bestowed upon the 'Chair, then I come across this shit and wish I was still gone.

Maybe I'm dreaming, or still overly excited in experiencing Manny Stiles Day, but, wow, just wow.

OK, wannabe's, pay attention.

Joe Girardi pissed off so many people in Florida he was fired after being named Manager of the Year. The Yankees manager in case you forgot is Joe Girardi. The Marlins would trade Cabrera and Willis to the Havana Sugar Canes or Moscow Red Raiders before they would make a deal with the Yankees. There goes that theory.

If the Yankees were concerned about remaining a dynasty, they wouldn't have re-signed ARod. It's not Jeter, it's not Giambi or Clemens or Pettitte or Mo or anyone else. The Yankees problems the past four years go directly to #13. Who cares about the postseason, anyway. The Yankees dynasty has been built on World Series Championships since getting the the fat guy in 1920. If all the Yankees cared about was the ALDS then they would have kept Alfonso Sorryasso.

Melky Cabrera sucks. The guy is a fourth outfielder, if that. He's been forced to play the last year and a half because better players have been injured, not because he is a good player or earned the right. Damn, in 2006, he rode the bench behind the immortal Bubba fuckin' Crosby. 'Nuff said.

You sure you guys aren't Mets fans?

See this article actually had substance, and support for its arguments. How are the Yankees going to make all of these trades? Won't this deplete their farm system that they've worked so hard to rebuild the past few years?

A few problems:

1. I would not call Willis a stud. In fact, Willis sucked last year. He's still young, but there was nothing last year to prove that he is worth 2 or 3 stud young prospects. And if you are going to give up the a chunk of the farm system, then Santana and Haren are way better ways to use it.

2. You really think that Minny is not going to pay Santana a butt load of money but they will take on Jeter's monster salary. Or that the Yankees are going to pay it all to get rid of him. Not happening.

3. "A-Rod needs to be a star." Yeah, because he's really seemed to handle himself well so far under the scrutiny of the New York media <sarcasm>. Let's totally focus it on him and watch him rise to the occasion <more sarcasm>.

This guys got to be on crack.1st of all How can anyone say the Yankees aren't still a Dynasty. How many teams do you know that have made the playoffs the last 12 years??? I'd rather lose with Jeter than to win without him. He's a yankee through and through and has earned his stripes.Let no man take them away.

You could say Tino Martinez earned his stripes too. And Luis Sojo. I've still got to get a baseclogging merit badge and then I'll have my stripes too.
