How the Angels Can Get Back To the World Series! This YEAR!

Ha Ha Ha! So you may be thinking that I am absolutely crazy. Well I tell you, that isn't the case. The Last Place Angels can't win the World Series you say. I say you are wrong. Remember two years ago when a struggling Houston Astros' team acquired Carlos Beltran. He provided a spark which propelled them into the playoffs. Last year the manager turned their year around too. It can happen here in LA.

The Angels are one or two bats away from a title. If they could acquire Soriano, Carlos Lee, or Miguel Cabrera it would turn them into a real Title Contender. Look GA is getting old. If he only had to play every three days he might be more productive. Also a hitter would protect Vladdy who gets horrible pitches.

With Vladdy and the new guy hitting Cabrera would see even better pitches too. It would boost young guys like Juan Rivera, Kendry Morales, and Dallas McPherson. One big bat can provide a spark that could drive this team to the top.

I think the Angels need to start putting talent above politics. Everyone knew that signing Jeff Weaver was a stupid move. They should bring up Jered and solidify that rotation.

Jered isn't enough to put them into the playoffs. It makes a lot of sense to keep him down in AAA this year -- you stall his arb clock, you keep your trade chits (Jeff?) without downgrading them, etc.

I think the Angels could still make the playoffs if they committed to it: Colon, Lackey, Erwin Santana, Jered Weaver is a nasty 1-2-3-4 combination. Napoli looks legit, Vlad and Anderson are still there and the AL West is horrible.

They're in last place in a good division (the other three AL West teams are .500 or better!) and the wild card is out of reach. It's not a problem of them not being good enough. There are too many frogs to jump.

aren't they six games back? I don't think that's a huge jump. All the teams are mediocre. The Angels were also missing Colon.

If the Angels could switch to the NL right now, they would make it back to the World Series. Since this is not possible, they really don't have much hope for this year.

Sure, if they can land Cabrera, Lee, or Soriano they'll have a better shot. And if I could grow wings I'd fly to work today. Cabrera isn't going anywhere in Florida and there are 20 other teams in competition to get the other two. The Angels are a mediocre team this year. Better luck next year.
