How in the world can anyone excuse this pathetic team?
I seriously don't understand how this is even debatable, let alone people actually defending the guy.
You see, in college, there is this important thing called RECRUITING. You know, where you go out and get talented players to play for your school.
It's tough work, recruiting! You have to compete with every other school in the country for the best players, and the best players are usually drawn to winning teams, so those teams keep winning while the schools that NEED these guys have to settle for second-rate athletes and sure enough, keep losing.
Simple enough concept to understand.
Here's the thing. Notre Dame has...
1) History. Prestige. One of the most storied programs in the nation. Always televised. Always talked about. Any player that plans on going pro has a great chance to be recognized here.
2) A coach who was offensive coordinator for the New England Patriots with TWO SUPER BOWL RINGS! Who doesn't want the chance to play for a guy like that?
With these huge advantages over most of the rest of the nation, how can Weis be forgiven for such an awful, pitiful recruiting job?
Because players have to keep their grades up? That didn't stop Ty Willingham from recruiting a great team, or, for that matter, many coaches before that.
If it isn't pathetic recruiting, then it is pathetic coaching. Whatever it is, it IS PATHETIC.
And there is absolutely no excuse for Weis to still be this team's coach.
