How did the MNF crew sound?

I like Kornheiser in the booth a lot. There's two things I look for, and he scores well in both categories. First, he doesn't babble. A lot of guys feel like they have to fill all of the space with their talking, even when there's nothing to say. Some of the worst color commentators them have a style that could be best described as stream of conciousness... just blurting out whatever reactions pop into their heads. Here's a hint... if a transcript of your comments reads like incoherent babbling, that's what it is. Speak in complete sentences and take the time to form thoughts.

Second, when Kornheiser tries to be funny, he usually is. His hit to miss ratio is pretty high, and part of that's because he's not trying to crack a joke every thirty seconds.

The "three Mike" booth for the second game (Golic, Ditka, & Greenberg) did a fair job, although it was obvious that none of them had much experience calling games.

Greenberg said on the radio this morning that he sometimes had trouble seeing jersey numbers because he was so much further from the action than in the Arena league.

The early crew of TK, Jaws and Turico was actually very good. I was plesently suprised at how well that crew has gelled together and they were solid. I hate Mike and Mike and everything they do, so they were terrible as usual.

Sean, what are you talking about? All of them babble, giggle like schoolgirls, and ther is no need for 5 people for 1 football game! As for Mike, Mike, and Mike: Brutal.

The late one was terrible. They kept commenting on the Defenses and honestly...the defenses aren't better...the offenses were TERRIBLE, and if I have to here Ditka say: "Well, the um the well, the um the well, you see, um the uymm, well, you know, well umm, if they are goign to pass they need to umm, go and ummm, you know, they need to move the ball, and you know throw. Vernon Davis has 2 catches for 5 yards."

I loved Ditka (but I'm terribly biased). The discussion of him going to school to become a dentist slayed me.
