How Each Athlete Today Should Respond To The Media

This is a rant. A 3 minutes rant I quickly wrote. Sorry for the grammar, spelling, and all that other stuff.

Living in Chicago and being exposed to horrible media a line was crossed today by a Fucktard. The THING who crossed the line was Jay Mariotti. A THING who actually is suppose to be a sports expert. An IT who claims to be fair, not judge, and tell it the way it is. A (WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?) who was excited that Rex Grossman got hurt. A (does it have a vagina or penis) who is a piece of shit.

But Jay Mariotti isn't the only columnist*, journalist*, media expert out there that's....well.... a piece of shit. Sorry I can't write it a different way. I can't describe them a different way.

Recently the sports media has more power than ever. Individual sports "experts" have more power than ever. Jay Mariotti is suppose to be speak for all of Chicago-- the fans-- him-- he is supposedly representing me??!!!-- according to who?? Well according the, you guessed it, the sports media. It's getting out of control. The athletes, owners, managers, coaches, have to take the control back. And the only way to do it is to boycott the media.

Answer no questions, do no interviews, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore, ignore.

Staying positive isn't any good anymore-- Rex Grossman and the Chicago Bears were ridiculed for continuing to stay positive and say it isn't over until it's over. Look at what's happening currently in Pittsburg-- saying they are going to beat NE-- that's WHAT THEY SHOULD BE SAYING-- but now that's ridiculed.

Look at Brian Urlacher-- a man who was hurt, still playing football, but according to Jay Mariotti he was suppose to expose the world to his injury-- giving the other team a huge advantage--- how does that make any sense?????

When Brian became short with the media Jay Mariotti wrote that the only people Brian was hurting were the fans-- the people who pay ultimately his endorsements and who support him--

Every sentence, every word, every look, every thing they do is now being misconstrued and twisted by the media. And it has to stop.

Plus most athletes really shouldn't talk outloud- just gets them into trouble for saying stupid shit.

So my advice to everyone in the sports world- raise that middle finger and raise it high--- keep that mouth shut and stick it to the media. Things will change. They will all be out of jobs. The world will be rid of idiots like Jay Mariotti.

A Jam-Jam productions.

Absolutely. I hate the questions the media asks:

"How does it feel to win for Sean Taylor?"

"Take a wild fricking guess lady."

Seriously-- each team should hire a guy- huge, build like a tank- like the guy that was posted in the Brett should kick Brady's ass article-- he should stand there at the press conference and just hold up his middle finger for 5 minutes. Then he leaves. Do that for a month and the world is a better place.

Mr. T needs a paying gig. After all, it costs a lot of dough to pay those fines for chopping trees down in Lake Forest.

What ever you do, don't tell the reporters that you are confident your team will win on sunday. That equals a guarantee of victory in their eyes.

Yeah- I mentioned that in my rant-- isn't that freakin bullshit? Yet if the same guy says "it should be a good game...they have a good team..we have a good team.. it's gonna be a close game"- they'll bad mouth you for not having any confindence- you can't win... that's why we need Mr T

There are some schools that actually teach their athletes on how to handle the media and all NFL rookies have to go through the same thing. As far as talkinig to the media, have you heard some of these interviews? Every other sentence has "you know" in it. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA! That drives me crazy! This is not the hood, guys. All eyes and ears are on you, so if do answer questions, answer them to the best of your ability and if you don't know the answer, don't make one up. Instead, "Let me talk to an expert on this and I will get back to you" sounds a hell of a lot safer. Be civil, if nothing else to the media. After all, if it weren't for them, you wouldn't exist. That means no Kenny Rogers impersonations. Cameras aren't cheap. Lastly, let me address this to the African-American athletes. PULL YOUR DAMN PANTS UP! If I want to see underwear, I'll get a Victoria's Secret catlog or watch online porn! Get rid of the damn doo rags and unbraid your hair. Then people will take you seriously.

The point that I was attempting to make, LASportsblog, was that athletes are in the public eye and can be held accountable in every aspect, speech, the written word, dress, even how they act in public. When a player puts a uniform on, he or she is not only representing that team, he's representing the league that he or she plays in as well as that city. That means that even if a reporter asks a question that was heard three weeks ago, try to answer it as best as you can. The media can sometimes be the enemy, don't get me wrong. But at the same time, some of these athletes shoot themselves in the foot and expect us to clean up the blood and pay for the bullets.

There are going to be situations where sometimes you don't have an answer right away or you have been advised by legal counsel to not say anything. It bugs the ever-living hell out of me when I see young men with their pants not where they're supposed to be, being disrespectful to women and others (both inside their own race and outside of it) and then blaming someone else for their woes.

Sports and the media have to co-exist. Period.
