Hopkins v. Tarver - Open Thread

So who is going to take the boxing match tonight. Even though I am Philly, and Bernard Hopkins is a Philly boy, I see Tarver winning. Hopkins is aging very quickly and has moved up in weight class to fight Antonio Tarver. Tarver is younger and stronger.

It will go the full 12 rounds, but Tarver wins on all the judges' cards.

What is your prediction?

I'm gonna give Hopkins a little more credit, he's experienced and I believe him to be a much smarter fighter than Tarver. Tarver probably expects him to go all the way to max weight, which would slow Hopkins down. But from what I've read, looks like Hopkins is aiming for below max weight, which should keep him in his element. Plus I just think Hopkins is tough mofo.

I think Tarver just has too much speed, skill, and strength for Hopkins right now. 5 years ago I think Hopkins may have won, but not now. I think it goes the distance though. Like Ray said, Hopkins is one tough mofo.

tarver's had to lose too much weight. i give hopkins a better chance than most in this fight.

WHy the -1? Chachi, normally I would have agreed with you, but, How much differnt is 37 and 43, really? Hopkins is a tough dude, not a guy I would ever want to deal with, in the ring or out...

I didn't -1 you. I think some people have been running around giving minuses to every comment on certain articles, particularly soccer related ones. And also, Hopkins had to gain a bunch of weight to move up to light heavyweight to face Tarver, I think this slows him down and affects his stamina a bit.

I just realized the fight is over and Hopkins won. This is what happens when you get out of work at 4 am. I guess I was wrong.
