Hoot Evers (Walter Arthur Evers) was born on February 8, 1921 in St. Louis, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on September 16, 1941 for the Detroit Tigers. In 1946, his rookie year, he hit .266 with 4 home runs and 33 RBI. Evers played for the Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox, New York Giants, Cleveland Indians and Baltimore Orioles over the course of his 12 year career.

Most people believe that Hoot Evers's best season was 1950, when he slugged 21 home runs, hit for a .323 average and knocked in 103 runs.
