The car has has nothing but awful reviews from its drivers since it was launched pre-season, and after going from competitive at the end of 2006 to behind Super Aguri - a car based on the 2006 Honda - they have decided to start again with a redesigned car.
They also hope to bring former Ferrari supremo Ross Brawn to Honda in 2008, with the aim of improving the long-term success of the car and the team. Nick Fry also hopes to restructure Honda, who currently have factories both in the UK and Japan.
The car has been no higher than 11th so far this season, but it is hoped that the big-spending team will be able to get on track to build a good car in 2008, as it will be unlikely to save the 2007 season having missed one third of the races.
It is hoped the move will boost moral at the Honda team and of its drivers too, Jenson Button, Rubens Barrichello, who have consequently had poor starts to the season.
