Homeruns, Steroids, and A-Rod

We've come to a day where homerun milestones are immediately associated with steroids. Essentially, this is the implication of Chipper Jones' latest comments. The Braves' 3rd baseman predicted that Alex Rodriguez will face the same doubt and questions when he closes in on the greatest record in sports.

Is there no good-guy in Major League Baseball? Is there a single player that wouldn't have his morals scrutinized by the relentless "pure" fans of baseball? Do we despise these "heirs to the throne" simply for the sake of history surrounding 755?

These questions must have answers, because the fact of the matter is... records are made to be broken.

I don't that steroids (at least in their current chemically cutting-edge form) played a significant role in baseball until some time in the past 25 years. But let's not forget the significant steroid use in the NFL in the 70s. Who's to say MLB players couldn't have used the same things. But today, especially with there being NO HGH test to this day, we have to be at least a litlle bit suspicious of everyone.

Good guy with no questions about his morals - Ken Griffey. It's unfortunate that he has virtually no chance at the record because of all his injuries.

So true. Griffey is best player i've ever seen in person. He'll probably end up somewhere between 650 and 675, but he'll be remembered as the best HR hitter of this generation.

HGH was developed in 1981, so 25 years is all you can count.
