9
Vote

ESPN.com is reporting that Seattle Seahawks coach Mike Holmgren lectures his team at the beginning of each training camp not to ride motorcycles during the season. Holmgren is an avid rider himself, and enjoys riding during the offseason, but, as a team offical reports, no riding from July through January.

Finally, one coach taking steps to keep his players safe.

Cowher doesn't let his team ride motorcycles during the season either. In fact, in Big Ben's interview last year about riding, Roethlisberger said something to the effect of "Coach doesn't let me ride during the season, which I respect, so I ride during the off-season." This article pretty much Praises Holmgrem for doing something that all other coaches do as well.

Let me just say that a rule disallowing motorcycle riding during the season is the dumbest. rule. ever. I know Big Ben isn't in one, but a coma's a coma no matter what season it is. Maybe pro sports should start mandating that fourth year of college so the athletes can learn some common flippin' sense.

They should be able to do as they want. But they should also have to pay the price. If the steelers wanted, I'm sure they could void ben's contract. If they wanted to...

Thats fine, but useless. No one gets hurt riding them during the season. Take a look, J. Williams, Kellon Widslow, Big Ben, all during the off season. Players need to learn to stay off the things.

Are we being a bit selfish here? If the player's contract says he is restricted from doing certain things, then the player should abide by it. But who are we to tell players what they can do in their off time. Do you want someone giving you a list of things you can and can't do during your vacation?

I think I read that there was no restriction in Ben's contract because they were unaware that he was a rider at the time he signed. I think I read that but I do enjoy tasty libations.....

Will the players actually listen to the coach. The coach is not with the players 24/7. So even if the Walrus says no, a Seahawks player may still ride.
