Hollandsworth Heads Down I-71

The Cincinnati Reds acquired outfielder Todd Hollandsworth from the Cleveland Indians today, adding a veteran bat to their lineup for the stretch run. In return the Indians will receive a player to be named or cash.

Hollandsworth, 33, is betting just .237 so far this year, with six home runs and 27 RBI in 56 games. He has done well though, when he has played on a day-to-day basis.

To make room for Hollandsworth on the 40-man roster, the Reds transferred pitcher Brandon Claussen to the 60-day disabled list. Another move will have to be made to the active roster when Hollandsworth joins the Reds.

Seems like they'd have been better off keeping Austin Powers Kearns, no?

As I mentioned in the article, Hollandsworth is pretty decent when he plays every day. If they just have him in every now and then, they're wasting their time. But yeah, he's no Kearns. (Although in a playoff run, sometimes an experienced veteran is as big of asset as a young guy like Kearns, especially when they still have Dunn).
