Hinkey Haines (Henry Luther Haines) was born on December 23, 1898 in Red Lion, Pennsylvania. After going to high school at Red Lion (PA), Haines attended Lebanon Valley College and Pennsylvania State University. Haines made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants and Staten Island Stapletons over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1927 was Hinkey Haines's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
