Hey Cowher... stick to coaching!

So yesterday my team favorite team, the Bengals, didn't play until 4:05, so I decided to watch a 1:00 game. I watched the Packers vs. Vikings. I enjoyed the game because I love watching Brett Favre play, he is the only guy who throws more than one underhanded pass for a completion every time I watch him, he completed 4 in the first 3 quarters by the way. I also wanted to see how Adrian Peterson would follow up on his record-breaking day last week (He tore his LCL and gained just 45 yards on 11 carries).

The game was enertaining and at the half I believe it was 13-0 Packers, then it went on to the halftime show, and I became very frustrated. Bill Cowher was one of the men on the Halftime show and he really showed me how much he didn't belong on live television. Now don't take this as bias because I am a Bengal's fan and naturally I hate Bill Cowher. In the 10 minutes he was on he said 3 extremely unintelligent statements.

1. I believe they were talking about the Redskins and their abysmal passing to wide receivers. Prior to yesterday no Redskin receiver had a touchdown reception. Yesterday, they broke the streak as James Thrash had 2 and Keenan McCardell added another. So when dicussing this, they ask Bill his opinion. He said something like this, "I don't think the Redskins can have a solid offense when the have- (holds up a zero for emphasis) -- zero yards in passing touchdowns!" How do have zero yards in passing touchdowns? I'm still trying to make sense of this.

2. Later the crew was discussing the first half MVP. Naturally the first 2 guys take Tom Brady, what with the 30+ Touchdowns passes being on pace to smash Peyton Manning's record. Any sports fan knows Tom Brady is the first half MVP. So Coach is up he of course picks Ben Roethlsiberger. Bill, could be more blatantly obvious in the bias towards your old QB? I was so ticked when he said this, I had half a mind to turn the TV off, but just then I realized I needed to document his stupidity for a future article for Armchair! I'm going to show a stat comparsion real quick showing Roethlisberger and Brady's stats.

Ben passing yards 2,020 TD's 22 Interceptions 7 Completion % 66% YPA 8.35 Sacked 23 Record 7-2

Tom Passing yards 2,686 TD's 33 INT's 4 Pass % 73% YPA 8.98 Sacked 10 Record 9-0

It's very interesting how Tom Brady is better in literally every category, yet according to Bill Cowher, Ben Roethlisberger is the first half MVP. Yeah, that makes perfect sense

3. The last significant thing was during the true/false segment of the show. A question was asked will the Giants win the division over the Cowboys. Everyone but Bill says false. When asked to provide analysis, Bill said a couple of unintelligent statements, which provided absolutely zero analysis whatsoever.

So my message to Bill is, go back to coaching, because I will admit, you were pretty good at that.

I would agree with you when you say Brady is the first-half MVP, but Brady has a much better supporting cast. Brady would not be that good if he didn't have the great O-Line he has, along with his 3 potential pro bowl receivers, and an awesome D. Roethlisberger has a Pro Bowl WR, and RB, and an awesome Defense, but I think Roethlisberger has much improved, and is having an awesome year, if he had a better O-Line, and THREE pro bowl WR's on his team, the Steelers would be undefeated, and he would probably be the MVP.

He is having a MUCH better year then Carson Palmer, whose team has a 2-8 record:

2,464 Passing Yards, 16 TD, 10 INT, 64.9 PCT, sacked 13 times, with a 91.1 Rating.

That's is decent, but Roethlisberger's stats are a little better, and Pittsburgh has a much better record than Cincinnati.
