Hey, Floyd Landis...SHUT UP

Is anyone else sick of Floyd Landis acting like he's done nothing wrong? Seriously, how many times did this guy test positive? A samples, B samples, it doesn't matter to me. He pissed in a cup and it showed that he had cheated. Period. End of story. This idiot is still trying to clear his name. That's like Mike Vick becoming an employee at PetsMart.

Jokes aside, he is hoping arbitrators in the Court of Arbitration for Sport will reverse an earlier decision to ban him for two years and strip him of his title for using performance-enhancing drugs.

"I hope that the arbitrators of the case will fairly address the facts showing that the French laboratory made mistakes, which resulted in a false positive," Landis said. "Although the process of proving my innocence has been difficult for me and my family, I will not stop trying to prove my innocence."

According to the Associated Press, last month a panel sponsored by the American Arbitration Association ruled against Landis, confirming the results of a test that showed he used synthetic testosterone to fuel his unbelievable comeback victory. That decision meant Landis had to forfeit his title and is subject to a two-year ban.

A ceremony is scheduled Monday in Madrid, where Landis' yellow jersey will be awarded to second-place finisher Oscar Pereiro. The International Cycling Union declared Pereiro the winner a day after last months ruling. If Landis loses his final appeal, he'll remain the first person in the 105-year history of the Tour to lose the title because of a doping offense.

I know that the whole French-American rivalry has sparked some hated emotions across the pond when it comes to cycling, but Landis has to be out of his mind. If the French are set on making an American life this miserable, on purpose and out of spite, then we have an entirely different problem that could go beyond cycling and sports in general. But I don't believe that for a second. I can't see that happening, not even in France. Maybe I'm being naive, but in my mind, no person could be that spiteful or jealous of an American athlete to take it to such extremes...unless they're riding bare-back on a camel through former Mesopotamia sporting a head-dress waiving a sword and pretending to be a revolutionary when they're really being a coward.

Until proven otherwise, Landis is no more than the Marion Jones of cycling.

I agree, some people should just crawl into a corner and disappear and Floyd Landis should do the same thing. Take a lesson from fellow American Lance Armstrong and just disappear from the spotlight when the steroid needle comes pointing at you.

I absolutely disagree...

Read up on Landis's steroid allegations...you'll note the inconsistancy of samples and the contradiction or the testing of said samples...not to mentioned the independence of the arbitrators is questionable at best...

I'm as much of a steroid hawk as you guys, but from what i've read and what i know...There's more to Landis...

I have no doubt that there is more to the Landis story. But the fact he is still trying to save his ass, and there is so much BS around him. Not to mention the entire cycling community is tainted from steroids.

I find it equally impossible to believe that a person who grew up in the type of situation landis did would consider steroids...

And given the information i've been presented with regarding the quality of the samples, the indepedence of the testing and the independence of the arbitrators, I do not believe anyone is being terribly honest...

Lots of people are "saving their asses"

There are plenty of people who grew up in moral and upright households that stray off as they grow up. Especially when temptations of money fame and other various issues come into the picture.

Justin there are a lot of people who grow up in Meninite (sp?) or Amish standards that stray from the trodden path and end up being complete screw ups, so don't put this past Landis... The pressure of having an uber-religious family and trying to meet their standards can lead to depression, anxiety, and/or drug use...I studied this in behaviorial medicine

You have to remember that Cycling is one of the most corrupt sports. It is a European sport with many Euro Athletes that can't hack it. They tried for years to stick it to Lance and now that Lance is out, its time to go after the next best guy. It sucks to be Floyd and all signs point to him being guilty but I trust Floyd over the Cycling world that tried for 7 years to railroad Lance Armstrong and seem to simply move on to the next Champion.

the difference is that Lance never tested positive for steroids...not saying he didn't use them (it's ungodly that he recovered from such intense cancer treatment), but he never tested positive...I'm sure drug testing has improved over the last seven years, but I can tell you as a person in the medical field that it hasn't improved that much...

Tyler, very true but neither did:

Mark McGwire Sammy Sosa Brady Anderson Roger Clemens Michael Johnson (track and field)

I could keep going all day...we all know that not testing positive doesn't mean you're not guilty...if that were the case, Bonds would have been celebrated across the nation this year...the point is he DID test positive...several times...period

I don't know much about this, but I do know this. The French DO hate us enough to trump this up just for spite.

I think Floyd got a raw deal here, the lab made a ton of mistakes with the testing. This case seems like a witch hunt, they couldn't catch Lance so they tryed the nest best thing, dethroning an american who won there race, The French have wanted to see the Americans fail for years.

This is not a case of the French hating or being jealous of Americans. Landis is no the only person who has been punished for a failed test. Get over it.

Do any of you ripping on the French know anything at all about France? Europe? Any country other than America? What is the basis for these accusations?

All this "the French are jealous and spiteful" garbage rings just as hollow now as when Pats fans said the same thing after Cameragate.
