Hersh Martin (Herschel Herbert Martin) was born on July 16, 1906 in Springfield, Missouri. After going to high school at Manual (Kansas City, MO), Martin attended the University of Kansas. Martin made his professional debut in the NFL in 1929 with the Staten Island Stapletons. He played for the Newark Tornadoes and Staten Island Stapletons over the course of his 2 year career.
