Herschel Bennett (Herschel Emmett Bennett) was born on September 21, 1896 in Elwood, Missouri. He made his Major League debut on April 19, 1923 for the St. Louis Browns. In 1925, his rookie year, he hit .279 with 2 home runs and 37 RBI. Bennett played for the St. Louis Browns for his entire 5 year career.
Most people believe that Herschel Bennett's best season was 1925, when he hit for a .279 average.
