Herm McFarland (Hermas Walter McFarland) was born on March 11, 1870 in Des Moines, Iowa. He made his Major League debut on April 21, 1896 for the Louisville Colonels. In 1901, his rookie year, he hit .275 with 4 home runs and 59 RBI. McFarland played for the Louisville Colonels, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles and New York Highlanders over the course of his 5 year career.

Most people believe that Herm McFarland's best season was 1901, when he stole 33 bases, hit for a .275 average and knocked in 59 runs.
