Here's a bone to pick or not: Kyle Farnsworth

by user Saddleshoe

However well the Yanks are doing right now, the bullpen is still barely viable. To me, Kyle Farnsworth is the worst offender because he has such great stuff and doesn't use it. He picks spots rather than overpower people. And I've never heard him not give up a run. I think the Yankees should trade him tomorrow. Any thoughts/takers?

I would take him...our closer is Antonio Alfonseca (Initials: AA, because he drives philly fans to drink...)

He's untradeable, and for exactly the reason you mentioned. If he gets released someone will sign him, or maybe he's a throw-in on a bigger deal, but no chance he's traded one for one.

Yeah, I'd just like to see him go. Maybe we could trade him for someone else's headache to see if a change of scenery on both ends makes a difference. I'd even be happy if we released him and brought back up one of the kids.

I am a Cubs fan. Kyle Farnsworth ain't worth a bag of batting practice baseballs.

What about St. Louis? If they could turn Braden Looper into a starter and Jeff Weaver into a World Series Ace (he should've never left that club), maybe they'd have an interest. I don't even know what I'd want in return. I just can't stand it when he pitches. I can't stand Vizcaino either, but he's just releasable. My cats Henry and Larry can pitch better than Vizcaino.

Send him to a pitchers park...it always works out better that way...Last year st. lou was the "Juventation Machine" (simmons) of crappy pitchers...but not this year...plus i don't know what they could give you in return, they're already short a few starters...

Send Farnsworth to Colorado. At least those poor bastards at the ballpark can enjoy record distance HRs from the visitors.

Who would you give us from Philly, if you could? Embarassingly, I don't know who Simmons is...I have a feeling I should very much know.

Pat Burrell. Another bat that produces nothing added to the collection of Mr. Steinbrenner.

Bill Simmons is a sports writer on ESPN, great with the pop culture references...some of us revere him, other don't (mannystiles comes to mind)...personally, I think he's a good writer... Depends on what you want/need...considering the yankees need starting help, maybe lieber, but that's almost too much...especially with garcia down...farnsworth isn't worth all that much, but if he's released, he'll get picked up fast...

It would be nothing for nothing. Farnsworth is only good for throwing batting practice or blowing saves.

Our bats have been pretty good lately...I've heard the team isn't interested in Todd Helton on the Rockies and Farnsworth is probably not enough. We're probably stuck with him unless we release him.

Farnsworth for Helton...forget it, Colorado would want prospects and farnsworth...even at a discount they'd want at least 1 decent guy...

I'll take him in New York. Move Matsui to first base, or even Burrell for that matter.

I'd take Jon Lieber. I take that trade right now. But it is too much. I'll check out Bill Simmons.

He's great to have on the bench. You know, in case there's a bench clearing brawl.

Good point. The manager would not even have to care if Farns punches with his pitching hand.

Last year Farnsworth had 75 strikeouts in 66 innings but this year has only 14 in 25 innings and worst of all has 14 walks which comes out to a walk in less than 2 innings pitched. Maybe he is focusing more on Roger Clemens being in Texas on his offdays than he is on getting batters out.

Farnsworth couldn't hit the side of a barn when he pitched at Wrigley. The "Nuke LaRouche" (sp?) of MLB (without boning Susan Sarandon).
