Herb Welch (Herb Doyan Welch) was born on January 12, 1961 in Los Angeles, California. After going to high school at Warren (Downey, CA), Welch attended Cerritos JC and the University of California - Los Angeles. Welch made his professional debut in the NFL in 1985 with the New York Giants. He played for the New York Giants, Detroit Lions and Washington Redskins over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that 1986 was Herb Welch's best year.
