Herb Shoener (Herbert George Shoener) was born on January 2, 1923 in Reedsville, West Virginia. After going to high school at Charleston (WV), Shoener attended Lehigh University and the University of Iowa. Shoener made his professional debut in the NFL in 1948 with the Washington Redskins. He played for the Washington Redskins for his entire 2 year career.

Most people believe that 1949 was Herb Shoener's best year, as he ran back a fumble for a touchdown.
