Herb Orvis (Herbert Vaughn Orvis) was born on October 17, 1946 in Petoskey, Michigan. After going to high school at Beecher (Flint, MI), Orvis attended the University of Colorado. Orvis made his professional debut in the NFL in 1972 with the Detroit Lions. He played for the Detroit Lions and Baltimore Colts over the course of his 10 year career.
Most people believe that 1980 was Herb Orvis's best year, as he recovered 3 opponents fumbles.
