Herb Ellis (Herbert W. Ellis) was born on December 18, 1925 in Vernon, Texas. Ellis attended Texas Agricultural and Mechanical University. Ellis made his professional debut in the NFL in 1949 with the New York Bulldogs. He played for the New York Bulldogs for his entire 1 year career.
