Herb Bauer (Herbert Frank Bauer) was born on October 13, 1906 in Cleveland, Ohio. After going to high school at Lakewood (OH), Bauer attended Baldwin-Wallace University. Bauer made his professional debut in the NFL in 1925 with the Cleveland Bulldogs. He played for the Cleveland Bulldogs for his entire 1 year career.
