Born on September 20, 1860 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, Henry Boyle (Henry J. Boyle) played for the St. Louis Maroons and Indianapolis Hoosiers over the course of his 6 year career. Boyle broke into the bigs on July 9, 1884 with the St. Louis Maroons, and put up a 1.74 ERA in 150 innings pitched in 1884, his rookie year.

Most people believe that Henry Boyle's best season was 1884, when he posted a 1.74 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 88 batters.
