If you didn't see the June Edition of this article, go take a look. The rules are available at this link.
The basic idea behind the league? An auction-based, salary-cap-driven dynasty league, with really, really deep rosters. I've managed to set up a Yahoo! league for easy management. Here are the settings:
Draft Type: Offline Draft Max Teams: 8 Scoring Type: Points Only Start Scoring on: Week 1 Can't Cut List Provider: None Max Moves: No maximum Max Trades: No maximum Trade Reject Time: 0 Trade End Date: No trade deadline Trade Review: Commissioner Waiver Time: No waivers Post Draft Players: Free Agents Roster Positions: QB, QB, QB, WR, RB, RB, RB, W/T, W/T, W/T, W/T, W/T, K, K, K, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN, BN Stat Categories: Passing Yards (25 yards per point) Passing Touchdowns (4) Rushing Yards (10 yards per point) Rushing Touchdowns (6) Receptions (.5) Reception Yards (10 yards per point) Reception Touchdowns (6) Return Touchdowns (6) 2-Point Conversions (2) Offensive Fumble Return TD (6) Field Goals 0-19 Yards (3) Field Goals 20-29 Yards (3) Field Goals 30-39 Yards (3) Field Goals 40-49 Yards (3) Field Goals 50+ Yards (3) Point After Attempt Made (1) Fractional Points: No Negative Points: No
This should make the league usable. You still need a way to hold the auction. If anyone can find a good way to do it online (and for free), I'd be glad to run the league for seven other ArmchairGMs and myself. However, be forewarned -- I'm a trading maniac.
There are a few problems with the Yahoo setup:
- There's a maximum roster size -- 25. That's this leagues de facto minimum. That means you'll have two or three guys on your roster who Yahoo thinks are free agents. That's fine -- they're still yours. It just requires a bit of policing.
- There's no way to manage contracts and salary caps on it. Solution: Google Spreadsheets.
- Again, you can't do the auction on it. That also means you can't do free agency auctions on it. I've yet to come up with a solution.
Thoughts etc., let's hear them.
