How to make a redirect
To redirect a page (1) to a different page (2), enter on the top of page 1:
#REDIRECT [[NAME OF PAGE 2]]
For example, to redirect the Mets page to the New York Mets page, edit the Mets page and enter:
#REDIRECT [[New York Mets]]
Please note that you can only redirect to articles, not sections in them; although the syntax allows them, e.g.
#REDIRECT [[New York Mets#Roster]]
will redirect to the New York Mets page (but will not redirect to the Roster section of it).
What do we use redirects for?
Redirects should be used for abbreviations, misspellings, other spellings/punctuations, other capitalizations, other nicknames, and so on.
Abbreviations
For example, SMU redirects to Southern Methodist University.
Misspellings
For example, New Yark Yankees should redirect to New York Yankees.
Other capitalizations
For example, New York yankees should redirect to New York Yankees
Other Nicknames
For example, Georgia Tech redirects to Georgia Institute of Technology
