Heinie Smith (George Henry Smith) was born on October 24, 1871 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He made his Major League debut on September 8, 1897 for the Louisville Colonels. In 1902, his rookie year, he hit .252 with 0 home runs and 33 RBI. Smith played for the Louisville Colonels, Pittsburgh Pirates, New York Giants and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 6 year career.

Most people believe that Heinie Smith's best season was 1902, when he stole 32 bases.
