Heinie Groh (Henry Knight Groh) was born on September 18, 1889 in Rochester, New York. He made his Major League debut on April 12, 1912 for the New York Giants. In 1913, his rookie year, he hit .281 with 3 home runs and 48 RBI. Groh played for the New York Giants, Cincinnati Reds and Pittsburgh Pirates over the course of his 16 year career.

Most people believe that Heinie Groh's best season was 1917, when he hit for a .304 average and knocked in 53 runs.
