He's Getting There

With AP out of yesterdays game, many of us thought that more pressure than normal would be on the shoulders of T-Jack. He performed pretty well going 17/22 for 171 Yds, and an INT, but still made some bad decisions. The one that i really wanted to look at was the 1st and Goal throw from the 2 yard line that was picked off. The play was set up as a fake run/reverse and then he was supposed to find Sidney Rice in the corner of the endzone. The problem with the play was that he lobbed the ball up and the Raider's CB, whose name I can't pronounce or spell (#21), intercepted the pass. (he then went on to make a boneheaded play and take the ball out of the back of the endzone, ala Antonio Cromartie, and got tackled at the 2 yard-line (on his side)).
I always hear John Madden say "Look at how he threw that where it was either the receiver or nobody who would catch it." That is what T-Jack needed to do. Either throw it wider or higher, so that only Sidney could get it. He has long arms and is 6'4". Another thing he could've done was throw the ball harder. You see on the play that his arm speed (or lack there of) was slow. That allowed #21-Raiders to get a jump on the ball. Ultimately we won the game, but that could've been a big play.
Notes From Shooter: Look at what Charley Walters wrote on Sunday... -Although General Mills could end up with a presence in the Twins' new ballpark, it's unlikely that the stadium will be named Wheaties Field, as some people have hoped: I hope it is General Mills, so that it can be nicknamed the Cereal Box, then when we play Houston in the World Series it will be the Cereal Box vs. the Juice Box (Minute Maid Field).
Had Dairy Queen been willing to commit $35 million instead of $2.5 million in a sponsorship deal, the Gophers' new on-campus stadium could have been named the Blizzard Bowl: Isn't that an inviting name? It doesn't sound cold or anything? Maybe we could just make a bowl game called the Blizzard bowl, where we would play in it, just like Hawaii is always in the Hawaii bowl.
Don't Blog That: That was Clint Brewster eating The Halley's Comet at Erberts and Gerberts on 4th.
Twins Notes: Johan Santana was offered a 5 yr $93 MIllion Deal from the Twins, according to Sid Hartman. If Johan turns that down, maybe we do need to trade him. There are plenty of teams who wouldn't be able to offer that.
