Haywood Sullivan (Haywood Cooper Sullivan) was born on December 15, 1930 in Donalsonville, Georgia. He made his Major League debut on September 20, 1955 for the Boston Red Sox. In 1961, his rookie year, he hit .242 with 6 home runs and 40 RBI. Sullivan played for the Boston Red Sox and Kansas City Athletics over the course of his 7 year career.

Sullivan was also the General Manager of the Red Sox from 1978-1983.
