Hat Trick

When a player scores three goals in a single game.

At hockey games, it is commonplace to see fans (if the player is from the home team) through their hats onto the ice as a sign of celebration. In the NHL, it is the only time this is generally tolerated at all arenas.

Hat tricks scored consecutively are often called "Natural Hat Tricks."
