Harry Byrd

Born on February 3, 1925 in Darlington, South Carolina, Harry Byrd (Harry Gladwin Byrd) played for the Philadelphia Athletics, New York Yankees, Chicago White Sox, Baltimore Orioles and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 7 year career. Byrd broke into the bigs on April 21, 1950 with the Philadelphia Athletics, and put up a 3.31 ERA in 228.1 innings pitched in 1952, his rookie year.
Most people believe that Harry Byrd's best season was 1952, when he posted a 3.31 ERA, won 15 games and struck out 116 batters.
