Harold Ely (Harold E. Ely) was born on December 26, 1909 in Des Moines, Iowa. After going to high school at Roosevelt (Des Moines, IA), Ely attended the University of Iowa. Ely made his professional debut in the NFL in 1932 with the Chicago Bears. He played for the Brooklyn Dodgers and Chicago Bears over the course of his 3 year career.
