Born on October 29, 1890 in East Orange, New Jersey, Happy Finneran (Joseph Ignatius Finneran) played for the Philadelphia Phillies, Brooklyn Tip-Tops, New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 5 year career. Finneran broke into the bigs on August 20, 1912 with the Philadelphia Phillies, and put up a 3.18 ERA in 175.1 innings pitched in 1914, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Happy Finneran's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1915, when he posted a 2.80 ERA, won 10 games and struck out 68 batters. However, others believe that it was 1914, when he posted a 3.18 ERA, won 12 games and struck out 54 batters.
