Hank Schmidt (Henry Joseph Schmidt) was born on September 28, 1935 in South Gate, California. After going to high school at Fremont (Los Angeles, CA), Schmidt attended East Los Angeles JC, Trinity University and the University of Southern California. Schmidt made his professional debut in the NFL in 1959 with the San Francisco 49ers. He played in the NFL for 2 years, playing for the San Francisco 49ers the entire time. Schmidt also played in the AFL for 6 years, playing for the San Diego Chargers, New York Jets and Buffalo Bills over the course of his 6 year AFL career.

Most people believe that 1964 was Hank Schmidt's best year, as he ran back an interception for a touchdown.
