Born on May 12, 1916 in Bloomfield, New Jersey, Hank Borowy (Henry Ludwig Borowy) played for the New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates and Detroit Tigers over the course of his 10 year career. Borowy broke into the bigs on April 18, 1942 with the New York Yankees, and put up a 2.52 ERA in 178.1 innings pitched in 1942, his rookie year.

There is some disagreement on what was Hank Borowy's most productive season. Some believe that it was 1945, when he posted a 2.65 ERA, won 21 games and struck out 82 batters. However, others believe that it was 1944, when he posted a 2.64 ERA, won 17 games and struck out 107 batters.
