The Montreal Alouettes came out looking to go 2 - 0 in the young CFL season. Realistically, the game was over by the end of the first quarter, with the Alouettes leading the game 17 - 0. The Hamilton Tiger Cats made it close in the second quarter by scoring two touchdowns and holding the Alouettes to 0 points. At the half, Montreal led Hamilton 17 - 14.

That was all of the scoring that Hamilton made in the game. Montreal came out in the third quarter scoring a touchdown and a safety. And finished off the fourth quarter with two field goals. Final score Montreal 32 - Hamilton 14.

Hamilton QB Jason Maas went 27 for 43 for 263 yards, for one touchdown and two picks. Maas was also the leading rusher with 3 attempts for 27 yards, one rush for 15 yards. The leading receiver for the Ticats was Terry Vaughn, a 12th year player out of Arizona, with 5 receptions for 77 yards. Kicker Jamie Boreham went 0/2 on field goals, but had two extra points.

On the other side of the ball Montreal QB Anthony Calvillo went 23 of 40 for 303 yards, with two touchdowns. Second year player out of Georgia, Robert Edwards led the Alouettes in rushing going 14 for 86 yards with one touchdown. Ben Cahoon led the receiving corps with 7 receptions for 115 yards and one touchdown. Kicker Damon Duval went 3/3 on field goals with three extra points.
