Hamilton Faulters, Championship Split Wide Open

by Rohandevgan

Lewis Hamilton was on the brink of creating history but an error sent him into race retirement leaving Ferrari's Kimi Raikkonen to take the win. McLaren teammate Fernando Alonso was second and Felipe Massa third. This result has opened the Driver's Championship wide open. Hamilton sits on 107 points followed closely by Alonso with 103 and Raikkonen is right behind on 100. It all comes down to the last race of the season in Brazil. Hamilton was had the race under control after starting from pole but tricky weather conditions caused his tyres to give way and spin out while heading for the pits. Raikkonen capitalised and never looked back. This is a bonus for F1 fans since the last race has so much at stake. Vettel and Button were the surprise of the race as they finished in fourth and fifth respectively, their best result of the season.I'm going to be optimistic and pray for a Ferrari one-two in the next race with Raikkonen winning the title. The pit crew have accepted responsibility for Hamilton's perhaps.

It was a great race worthy of staying up all night to watch.

Ditto, but scrub "all night" for "early in the morning"!

Adelaide, 1995, was famous for two things. Firstly, Mika Hakkinen almost died. Secondly, David Coulthard was leading the race for Williams, and as he pitted, threw the race away by crashing in the pit lane. Now, 12 years on in Shanghai, Lewis Hamilton does exactly the same thing.

Tragically, the decider will start at the same time as the NFL games start (6PM BST, and hence 1PM ET), so the US may have their attention elsewhere. It will be prime time in Europe, and since in Britain it will mean pushing one of the country's favourite soaps, it is sure to get a massive audience.

The Eagles play at 4:15, which is good news for me! I can watch the Brazilian GP first.

I will have to record all other sports on TV, because I will be at the backstretch grandstand for the Brazilian Grand Prix.
