Halladay Locked Up Through 2010

The Toronto Blue Jays re-signed Roy Halladay to a three-year, $40 million contract extension through 2010. Halladay will make $10 million in 2008, $14.25 million in 2009 and $15.75 million in 2010. Including his salaries of $12.7 million this year and $12.8 million in 2008, Halladay is now guaranteed $65.5 million for five years.

The Blue Jays are probably making a run at '07 and '08, not '06, so this is doubly important.

Because neither are the cores of the Yanks and Red Sox. The Blue Jays will be relatively much better off.

"Roy Halladay is the premier pitcher in the American League," Blue Jays president Paul Godfrey said. "To know he will be part of this organization for the next five seasons is a big, big plus."...Ah I don't care if you are the GM Johan Santana is better. Although the arguement can be made Halladay is #2.
